At the heart of this area is Aquafleur; with 20,000 m2 of ultramodern greenhouses, we supply the best quality aquarium plants to wholesalers and retailers throughout the world.
High Technology Aquafleur uses the latest techniques to maintain the optimum climate in its greenhouses; with more than 100 plant varieties, each requiring individual treatment, a controlled climate is an absolute must. Every day, 250,000 litres of water are circulated through the computer-controlled water treatment equipment, and atmospheric humidity, degree of acidity, temperature and the required nutritional value are closely monitored.
Artificial assimilation lighting guarantees that we can also produce top products throughout the winter months.
Breeding Many of our plants are bred according to the tissue culture method. Based on this method, the plants are cloned in a special laboratory, under sterile conditions. Tissue culture guarantees the best quality, continuity and production.
Tissue culture is environmentally-friendly; because we multiply our plants via tissue culture, no parent material has to be harvested from nature, thus protecting the flora in the mainly tropical countries of origin.
Specialist knowledge The 80 staff at Aquafleur understand the requirements of their work, whether potting on, making cuttings, generally caring for plants or monitoring the climate. With more than 20 years of experience in the trade for aquarium plants, and managers who have completed all necessary training, we can guarantee the best products.
Quality Before the plants can be sold, they are first subjected to quality control; only if the plants meet the strict quality criteria are they passed on to the dispatch department. At the dispatch department, the plants are cleaned, rechecked and packed in special transport boxes; they are then temperature conditioned and made ready for dispatch to the customer, wholesaler or retailer.
Sales system Aquafleur has developed a complete retail trade sales system. Our full-colour plant guide offers our customers detailed information about our plants; on request, customers are sent a weekly stock list or can order online direct via this homepage. Our plants come with superb, colour-coded labels for easy pricing in the shop, barcode, name and plant care tips. Our sales card clearly shows the customers the sales prices on the department, and at the cash desk, and our plant poster informs the aquarium fan of all the plant types available.
Environmentally aware At Aquafleur, an environmentally responsible policy and good working conditions for our staff receive high priority. For this reason, Aquafleur is a partner in the MPS project; MPS is the Dutch abbreviation for Environmental Programme in the Ornamental Plant Sector. Companies affiliated to the MPS project are assessed according to their environmental performance and must comply with strict requirements and conditions. The result is a better living environment and less environmental pollution.
